having had a smart meter upgrade recently I've again suspicion that my economy7 latest meter is not turning on/off at correct time ..
up until 29th March 2026 the economy 7 tariff would click off at 7.38am (its loud enough click you can hear it)..
yesterday I heard it click off and just happened to look at my phone and it was 8.38am ..
my heating is switched off now until October so its only used when I heat the water tank ..
I shall monitor the time its clicking on or off and see how it goes i suspect when the clocks go back it will return to 12.38am till 7.38am ..
and I suspect at the moment its clicking at 1.38am till 8.38am..

@Frank1 I wonder if there is a setting to update the time on it to the new times?

hi becky I've been through the manual but nothing about setting the time on the meter I'm guessing it's done through 4G signal..
I can live with it just making people aware that there economy7 cheaper hours maybe running differently..
the last meter did the same , my advice to people is put your ear near the meter at the time you're economy7 should switch off/on and listen, if you don't hear a CLICK at that time try it a hour either way or just note the time it's clicking off then adjust heating/water to fit in 7hrs before it clicks off..
these meters are not made in UK so I'm guessing clocks going forwards or back is confusing them..winter time is GMT and UK summertime is GMT+1...
I only noticed because I like to budget and use my electric at the cheapest times ..£

@Frank1 That is absolutely valid and you should be able to budget around this as usual.

I am keen to dig into this in order to see what is going on, because as far as I understand it should just update automatically.

What would really help me is if I had your account number and I can then get this investigated internally with the relevant team here.

I will drop you a private mail now 😊

    Thanks,

I can confirm now that my economy7 switches on at 1.38am and switches off at 8.38am .
    my actual economy7 times i believe are 12.30am to 7.30am ..
im guessing the economy7 lower rate will apply when the economy7 clicks on and off not between the hours of 12.30am and 7.30am ..
the previous meter i had was also a smart meter but was apparently too old for the economy7 tarrif after the analogue signal was switched off to meters, so i was advised to stay on economy7 i would need a new smart meter so they installed this newer one that gets its signal a different way..
mind you the previous meter also struggled with clocks going forward and back..
anyway the point to this thread is to make people on economy7 aware they might be using higher rate electricity for 1hour if there meter is only operating on GMT and not switching to summer time..
if anyone else using economy7 and can here what time there meter is clicking on and off has any feedback would be ideal..
economy7 hours can differ slightly depending on postcode btw.
