Hi @Lynadal
Thanks for posting. I completely understand how unsettling price rises can feel, especially when you’re trying to plan your household budget. Let me explain a bit more about the price cap and the support we can offer.
Ofgem Price Cap
The energy price cap is set by Ofgem, the regulator for the whole UK energy market. It isn’t a cap on your total bill, but on the unit rates and standing charges suppliers can charge for gas and electricity. Ofgem reviews the cap every three months to reflect changes in wholesale energy costs, network charges, and government schemes.
When wholesale prices rise, the cap goes up, and every supplier has to adjust their tariffs in line with it. When wholesale prices fall, the cap comes down, and suppliers reduce prices accordingly. This means the changes you’re seeing are industry‑wide — they apply to British Gas, E.ON, Octopus, Utilita, and all other suppliers. It’s not something Utilita decides alone. You can read more here:

Turn off lights when leaving a room.
Lower your thermostat by 1°C — saving around £100 annually.
Use the Utilita app to track daily usage and spot waste.

We know price changes can feel overwhelming, but please remember this isn’t just Utilita, it’s how the whole energy market is regulated.
