๐ŸŒ Good News Corner: Building a Greener Future Together!

๐Ÿƒ Global renewable energy has officially overtaken coal for the first time ever!
In the first half of 2025, solar and wind produced more electricity worldwide than coal, with solar alone powering 83% of global electricity growth. The clean energy transition is gaining serious momentum.
But what about here in the UK? Thanks to our famously sunny and windy weather, renewables are proving more reliable than ever. Research from Ember shows that the combination of wind and solar can meet our national electricity demand over 98% of the time. On the rare days when both are low, battery storage bridges the gap, showing that the UK can build a clean, reliable, and home-grown energy system while cutting our reliance on fossil fuels.

    โš ๏ธ Not-So-Good News:
While clean energy progress is accelerating, not all decisions are keeping pace. In Staffordshire, the local council recently voted to scrap their 2019 climate emergency declaration, saying long-term net zero goals distract from โ€œimmediate priorities.โ€
Although practical steps like energy efficiency and recycling continue, itโ€™s a reminder that bold, forward-thinking leadership is crucial to keeping the UKโ€™s energy transition on track, locally and nationally.
