Hi, so there is a Smart meter upgrade in process, I received 4 texts informing me of it. Then I get one that says there is a Potential safety concern and to ring the given number. I did that, followed the prompts and eventually got told to ring the normal number. I did not but tried the live chat, that ended after 20 minutes when they just cut me off without ever communicating with me. I sent in a complaint and got no response. Surely if there is a potential Safety Concern they should ring me. No contact was made.

Then I get a text saying the upgrade is complete.
Then I get a phone call saying that the potential safety concern is explained by me having solar panels, so all good.

Then two more texts saying there is a potential safety concern, then one saying the upgrade was complete, then a text saying potential safety concern, then a text saying the upgrade is in progress and now a text saying the upgrade has been rescheduled!!

This just appears to be AI gone mad, or no one seems to know what is going on because I don't!!

Total incompetence!

Thanks for your message!

We have been investigating the text messages yourself and others have been receiving, and can confirm that these are sent automatically to customers with Solar Panels who have recently had their meter software upgraded.

Whilst we understand that these text can be concerning, they are in place to ensure that any potential issues with the software switch are averted. Please feel free to ignore them, we are currently exploring why the message is being sent multiple times, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
