Fill the afternoon with a Film
Let’s face it, a trip to the cinema is always a novelty, with the big screen and the movie theatre environment. It also gives you a chance to totally switch off from reality for a couple of hours, with no jobs, chores, or running around.

There are lots of deals on offer, too!

Cineworld Movies for Juniors screenings offer children's tickets for £2.50.

Odeon Kids has a deal where adults pay the same price as a child every day during the school holidays, as well as every Saturday and Sunday.

Vue has Mini Mornings screenings from 10am during the school holidays. Tickets for adults and children cost £2.49 each.

You could also save money at the cinema with your dining card. For example, Gourmet Society offers 40% off at Odeon and Cineworld, and 30% off at Vue. Meanwhile,
Tastecard offers a 25% discount at hundreds of cinemas across the UK.

And if you have an Amazon Prime account, you can get two Odeon standard tickets for £10, or two Odeon Luxe tickets for £15 Monday-Thursday.

    Discounted Days Out
If you fancy a day out in the city, your train ticket can unlock savings.

Not only do some rail companies let youngsters travel for £1 when you buy an adult ticket, but also National Rail offers two entry tickets for the price of one at a huge number of attractions nationwide, including the London Eye, Sea Life locations across Great Britain and several historic landmarks including Leeds Castle and Hampton Court Palace.

Before you book, check National Rail's Days Out Guide; this also explains which tickets are valid.

If you're a Tesco Clubcard holder, you can convert the points you earn on your loyalty card into vouchers to spend with its Tesco Clubcard Reward Partners. These can often be used at wildlife parks and other attractions.

    A Day Out in Nature
Getting out the house and breathing in some fresh air is always great for the mind, body and soul.

Studies conducted by ‘Mind Charity’ have unearthed that spending time in nature has been found to help with mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. (Ref: mind.org.uk).

There are many green spaces such as your local park or even beach, that can allow you and your kids to roam freely, and explore local nature, such as birds, insects and types of trees, plants and flowers.

Weather pending, you could even take a picnic and some activity equipment, such as bikes, football, bat & ball, painting/drawing materials - whatever takes your fancy!
This is a super low-cost activity – and acts as a great day out!

If you are looking to venture out a little further, then The National Trust have some really beautiful locations all across the UK, packed with history and interesting activities.

Explore a New Area Close to Home
Have you checked out places close to home that you have never been to, but are on your ‘to-do list’?

With life being so busy, it’s easy to get into routine. Having a look to see if there are any unexplored villages or towns to visit nearby can really help to explore outside your door step. You may end up finding beautiful nature spots, your new favourite coffee or pizza place! It may also be a chance to have a low cost and new day out!

If that’s not your thing, you could take the train to your nearest large town or city, there will be plenty of low-cost things to do such as: sight-seeing, museum exploring, eating out (using the low cost/pub restaurant offers we have listed above), exploring new play parks/green spaces for a nice walk!

We hope this was helpful and gave some useful inspo! Refer to this guide for future school holidays too, it’s not limited to just one! 🤝👍🤩
