Damn and I thought I was the only one. I worked it out the other day and my gas was going to cost me over £5k per annum at the rate it was charging me. I've switched my gas supply off outside and have request my gas account to be shut down, the meter removed and my line capped. I limited my gas to only running my combi boiler for heating for a max of two hours per day with it only driving one radiator. I don't think the room it was heating ever got over 15 degrees. Luckily I don't have any kids or anything, it's just me so I can grit my teeth and get on with it.

My gas meter hasn't worked since I had it installed. It charges insane amounts, way over what they say they are charging. I thought it was a faulty meter but after surfing these forums for just a few minutes it looks like either their system is totally messed up and getting figures all wrong or they are up to some criminal activities. Never in a million years would I trust a dry system from Utilita, I'd be expecting to be hit with a bill that I would need a mortgage to pay off.

I've checked around with my neighbours who are all with British Gas and have smart meter systems. Their houses are identical to mine, they are all pre pay, are on higher tarrifs (than what Utilita are apparently charging me) but its costing them far less and their houses are in the range of cosy to holy **** I've fell into a volcano.

I'm shifting to BG after seeing this.
